กกกก A rose-growing farmer in Kushui township in Yongdeng county, northwest China's Gansu Province, picks rose petals in this picture taken on May 27, 2005. Yongdeng is known as China's top rose-growing county. This year, however, the purchase price of fresh rose petals, offered by local attar producers, has dropped to less than 2 two yuan per kilogram, from about 9 yuan per kilogram a few years ago, and rose growers could not make money from their rose plantations. It is reported 10,000 kilograms of fresh rose petals are needed to produce 4 kilograms of attar, and one kilogram of attar could sell for over 10,000 yuan. With insufficient processing capacity, the local governments are trying to help the farmers by building new attar plants and opening the world market. | |
